In 2017, in Colorado Springs, my band at the time opened up for Stressed, a band that I had liked enough to hound the guitarist to buy a tape. A couple of years ago, that guitarist came up to me, shortly after both having moved to Austin, at a recital. We quickly got into rooms with equipment together and the rest is history. In the meantime, from the first time we met, he and his friends had done a group called Weaken. 

These 2 EP’s, I believe recorded at the same time, together make a more than acceptable thesis in extreme metal and noise rock. 

There’s a film that plays in my head when i listen to this collection. There’s an open sky, a treeline that covers shrieking birds, and a valley with a river blasting through boulders.. Not unlike Werner Herzog’s vision of the rainforest, during the filming of Fitzcarraldo, but transposed to sprawling Colorado, USA. At moments here you have a clear view through the mountain’s chasm, to see the beauty and horrific mystery of raw black-metal riffing. Owing as much to Mayhem’s Euronymous as to Hot Snakes. This is a potent mix of ingredients, and they blend seamlessly.
